Discipline?
May. 26th, 2004 04:12 pmMore evidence of the decline of western society: I am at the library and the boy sitting next to me is downloading pictures of "nipple slips." Meanwhile, a group of nearby children around 10-12 years old are being very noisy. In fact, their volume has been to the extent that the librarians have needed to tell them to quiet down twice as I type this.
My question: do parents even try to instill any sense of base morality and common decency in their children anymore, or have they become so lazy that it is expected that others will simply deal with the problems their offspring create for them? And if this is the case, why do parents get so bent out of shape when someone else tells their child it is doing something wrong?
I never got away with this crap when I was a kid. I do remember that my parents instilled the so-called "fear of God" in me (or at least a sense of right and wrong).
