illusionofjoyTime ago, I wrote an email to every member of the Pennsylvania State Senate regarding a plan to remedy the budget shortfalls of mass transit systems in the state. Some of them even replied to my email. Add one more to that list:

Thank you for contacting me to seek support for Senate Bill 1162, which would create a source of dedicated funding for public transit in Pennsylvania. I appreciate your interest in this legislation and I well understand the need for dedicated transit funding in Pennsylvania. There are many who, like you, rely on public transit to get to work or other activities, and it is important that transit is available.
As you are likely aware, Senate Bill 1162 and House Bill 2697 did not come before the General Assembly during this legislative session. However, a short term funding solution was negotiated and in the next legislative session I will work to see a more comprehensive solution enacted. I have been a strong supporter of public transit in Allegheny County and Pennsylvania for years, and I will continue to work to see that our system of public transit becomes more reliable, efficient and affordable. I believe that a reliable system of public transit is essential to the economic viability in the coming years, and it is necessary that we support this system of transit for those who rely on it as their only source of transit. As of right now, no transit routes will be interrupted. I will work to see that this issue is addressed in the coming legislative session in February, and work towards a more permanent solution.
