Industrial music
Mar. 4th, 2005 09:15 pmThe double meaning strikes again; before Einstürzende Neubauten and Throbbing Gristle were labelled with the phrase,"industrial music" was used to describe any record of tunes put out by a corporation to promote any product they happened to manufacture. Reuters journalist Jon Kalish has written an interesting article about an individual who collects these obscure records. An interesting side note: the discontinued "Bin There, Heard That" column which ran in Pittsburgh's City Paper once had a review of one of these records. Personally, I'd love to get my hands on one, just for the curiosity and novelty of the thing.
