To the parents of Hannah...
May. 24th, 2005 09:39 pmI remember my youth. At four years old I wasn't allowed to run around in the supermarket and I certainly never made it more than ten feet from the vicinity of my parents. Tonight, as
joi_division and I were in the supermarket checkout lane, little Hannah was running back and forth down the aisles, with nary a care in the world. Immobile and spineless stood her dimwitted parents in the aisle next to us, unstirred to action, save their plaintive cries of, "no, Hannah, come back Hannah, put that down Hannah." At one point, so frustrated by the ineptitude of modern parenting, I actually yelled out, "Grab your child and discipline it!" Hannah's parents apparently didn't hear me.
I see an Amber Alert in the not-so-distant future for little Hannah. With parents as observant and mindful as hers, she's bound to get abducted sooner or later. Pathetic.
