Two days off
Jul. 6th, 2005 03:55 pmI have tomorrow and Friday off from work. Tomorrow I'll likely use to sleep in, as
joi_division, her brother and myself are headed to Cleveland tonight to see Canadian rock band Sloan. I'm not familiar with Sloan's discography, but Joi and her brother seem to love the group, so we'll see how that pans out.
Friday, I'll likely use to clean my apartment. It really needs to be cleaned.
I'll tell you something though: people are becoming more self-centred by the minute. Today's shard of evidence to this effect came at the front revolving door of the office building I work in. There was a woman moving through it ahead of me. She was moving in a painfully slow manner, even though by all accounts she looked healthy. Once she had cleared the door, I pushed on it harder to pick up some speed and get out. Once I had cleared the door, she called after me, "You know what - you're going to hurt someone someday going so fast!"
"No, I'm not," I replied, not even looking back. I'm not sorry. Some of us have places to get to and lack the luxury of life being a constant walk in the park. Furthermore, I was the only one in the door at that point, which meant that I could push it at any speed I wanted to. It would have been different if I had caught this woman's leg and had pushed harder. As it was, she was outside of not only the door, but the realm of reasonable complaints about my speed as well.
I imagine she's that person I always get stuck behind while driving the Parkway. You know, they have their turn signal on constantly, even though they aren't planning on turning and they're going at least twenty miles below the speed limit. Then, they flip you off when you find a chance to pass them and take it.
