There's calm in your eyes
Aug. 29th, 2005 08:00 pmAs Hurricane Katrina pounded into New Orleans today, I thought to myself that I should have probably visited the city before it was wiped off the face of the globe. Granted, the city hasn't been wiped off the face of the planet, but it is certainly soggier than it was through the last several hurricane seasons. Unlike those "near-misses," Katrina winged the city, hopefully serving as a reminder to the denizens that, yes it can happen here.
Jumping up towards the North-eastern part of the country, it has been raining on and off here in jolly old Pittsburgh. The last time a severe hurricane hit the southern coast, the consequence was severe rains for western Pennsylvania. This caused severe flooding throughout the region, including areas of downtown Pittsburgh and several South Hills communities.
I'm kind of prepared for that to happen again in the next few days. Thankfully, with joi_division and I both living in the same building in Mt. Lebanon, we won't be very susceptible to the floodwaters, should they come. It also helps that we live on the top floor of the building.
I recorded a new song today. I also laid down some vocal tracks for existing projects. My studio space still needs work, but you could say that things are getting back on track.
Speaking of music...if I still had a college radio show, I probably would have played Neil Young's "Like A Hurricane" today...because I'm an asshole.
