Day five - hot, hot, not
Nov. 25th, 2005 09:24 pmEver since the temperature outside went sub-freezing, it has been painfully obvious that there are drafts where the air conditioners were installed. This made the apartment uncomfortably cold. Radiators are not the greatest way to heat a building; it is said they have two settings: too hot or too cold.
Today, I briefly went out to the hardware store and purchased a couple of window kits to keep out drafts. You know the type - these are giant sheets of Saran Wrap, which is supposed to keep out the cold creeping in and lower one's heating bills. Installation went smoothly, once I locked the cat in one of the bedrooms. He has this thing for licking plastic (he's an odd one, that cat), and once I pulled out the window kits, his eyes lit up as if he'd just hit the motherlode. Yeah...had to put a stop to that before it started...
The plastic has been up since this afternoon. I don't feel much warmer. Maybe this place is like a sauce and it has to simmer a while...
Personally, I just want to crank the heat and be done with it!
