[livejournal.com profile] joi_division's baby nephew was christened today. It was one of those rare occasions that I set foot inside of a church, and an ever more rare occasion that I set foot inside of a Catholic church. Regardless, it was a nice ceremony. The priest even managed to impress me by being quite gentle and - dare I say - Christ-like, rather than the fount of condemnation that most Catholic priests are drawn as these days. I never thought I'd hear this during the sermon:

"Maybe a little girl born today will be up here performing this ceremony in 25 years. One could only hope..."

It was an interesting ceremony; not what I'd expected. There are times I really like having my preconceptions shattered.
