Tabloid reporting and rumour-mongering is fun, no? As far as I'm concerned, this whole election season has turned into one huge tabloid nightmare, so what's one more log on the fire, right? People keep telling me not to believe stuff I read on the internet - because, you know, stuff I hear on the radio, stuff I watch on TV or stuff I read in newspapers and books is far more accurate by virtue of the medium, right?
In any case, ascertain the truth value of this on your own - The Telegraph reports that Bill Clinton is not feeling the unity:
The Telegraph has learned that the former president's rage is still so great that even loyal allies are shocked by his patronising attitude to Mr Obama, and believe that he risks damaging his own reputation by his intransigence.
A senior Democrat who worked for Mr Clinton has revealed that he recently told friends Mr Obama could "kiss my ass" in return for his support.
You know what? I'm siding with Bill on this - he has every right to tell Barack Obama to piss in the wind. I'd be doing the same thing, if I were him. Throughout the Democratic Primary, the Obama campaign smeared the Clintons as racists and belittled Bill Clinton's presidency, opting instead to praise that proto-Bush douchebag known as Ronald Reagan.
Bill Clinton is the only Democratic President in the past forty years to serve two terms. Not only that, but he was successful in undoing much of the damage inflicted upon the nation by twelve years of republican abuse. The accomplishments of Bill Clinton overshadow the threadbare resume of Barack Obama by a huge margin.
Furthermore, Bill Clinton, having reached the top (two terms as President) has nothing to lose in speaking his mind. He can more or less tell Obama to kiss his ass with impunity, as he has no political career to risk anymore. Barack Obama is an arrogant man, and this turn-around from smearing Bill Clinton to asking for his support and complimenting him is just another ploy from a campaign built on ploys, catchphrases and empty rhetoric. Bill Clinton, no doubt sees right through it and has no problem calling "bullshit." It probably pains him greatly that his wife does not have that same luxury and now has to play nice and "take one for the team."
