Simulating normalcy
Jan. 4th, 2009 10:45 pmSince I do technically still have internet access via my laptop, I've decided that I'm going to attempt to update my journal on a daily basis. The fact that I've installed Firefox on this machine will make that somewhat easier; the browser has a built-in spell-checker and I am a horrible speller. On any given occasion, I can remember owning up to three dictionaries (plus a thesaurus and a French to English translation book). Through some of the errors that have slipped through on other entries, I am certain, it should come as no surprise that I really can't spell for shit. However, given the choice, I'll take the British spellings over the American versions any day. "Colour" just looks more appealing than "color."
I just find myself incredibly frustrated about my desktop computer being out of commission. For one thing I had hoped to manage daily entries for 2009, that plan being out the window with the loss of the 1st and the 3rd already. Suffice it to say that OTR entries and anything lengthy are off the table for the moment (including my bitchfest - ahem, review - of 2008). I prefer to type up such things in a proper word processor and then copy and paste them into the journal, despite the fact that I type in HTML as I write them.
I am so sick of setbacks. I don't make a great deal of money, but what I can scrape together, I want to use to do things that not only I enjoy but may have a slim change at leading towards a better life. Instead, I get punched in the wallet to undo the damage done by some fuckhead criminal who somehow can't get a job as a legitimate coder and instead resorts to writing malware. I guess it just really bothers me too that since I built my desktop PC, I wasn't able to fix it once something went wrong.
Hopefully this will pass quickly. If nothing else, without the distration of my computer, I now have more time to catch up on chores and socialising.
