Hazards of college you didn't know about
Aug. 25th, 2005 08:47 pmThe antiquated college ritual of putting people together as roommates has got to go. Most won't move into an apartment with a complete stranger, so why should college campuses expect students to do so? You never know what kind of psycho you'll end up with.
A friend of mine once had a roommate who decided that it would be a good idea to run drain-cleaner through his Britta water filter. The result of being run through said filter was that the corrosive liquid was made clear and looked just like water...until consumed. My friend lived to tell the tale and after a trip to the hospital, several stomach pumps and one criminal inquiry later, he ended up with new roommate.
It would seem that poisoning is no longer in vogue. These days psycho roommates prefer beating their victims over the head with hot clothing irons.
Is this what people are going into thousands of dollars of debt for?
