If I had any advice to give any high school grad, it would be this: do not go to college unless your scholarships, grants (and make sure they actually are grants) and state aid will cover the costs. Do not, under any circumstances take out student loans. You will be fucked.

...at least until things change in America. Don't hold your breath, kids.

The problem with academia is that most of it is useless. Companies dont want someone who has original thought, unless they are CEO's or officers. They build us up saying that college is the only thing that will help us get a job, and its bullshit. I think there should be a mandatory year off between high school and college, either working, traveling, or in the military.

That said, I love learning, so I will be in school the rest of my life.

My advice would be, do not go to school on loans unless you have a clear idea of what you want to do in life, and that can only be accomplished with a college degree. As I want to teach others, I need at least 18 hours of Masters level work (which pretty much gets me a masters degree) :-)

Well, yippee I'm fucked! I know what I want to study but have no bally clue as to what I'm going to do with it.
