I took off of work on Friday, sleeping in until 11:00AM - early for me to be awake. So, instead of being constructive, I spent the day playing computer games. [livejournal.com profile] joi_division came home at her usual time, the cat was fed, and we headed off to Cleveland for the concert.

We made fairly good time there, despite the construction on the Pennsylvania turnpike and the freak rainstorms in Ohio. It is an odd thing, being told not to stop at a toll booth. The orange construction signs told us to drive right through the thing at 25MPH, which pretty much goes against every instinct I have when it comes to a toll booth. Logically I was thinking, "the signs have told us this is okay," while years of mental conditioning were saying, "ohhhhhh shit!"

Joi and I had seen VAST at the Agora before (last year, if I recall), so we pretty much knew what to expect. Since we'd left late, we were once more able to forgo all of the shitty opening acts, save for one (whose butchering of Weezer's "Say It Ain't So" would likely get them bitch-slapped by Rivers Cuomo). That unnamed band left the stage, and Joi and I managed to grab a spot near the front and under the A/C vent - score!

Upon VAST's appearance on stage, Joi and I both concurred on two things: Jon Crosby needs to shave the beard and lose the cowboy hat. Until VAST begins sounding like Fields of the Nephilim, cowboy hats are out of place and neither one of us are big beard fans.

We got home around 4:00AM and I didn't get to bed until nearly 5:00. It was nearly twelve hours later, as Saturday afternoon was turning into evening that I woke up. Now, in the waning of Sunday, I'm wondering where my three-day weekend went. I think I desperately need more time off to compensate for the fact that time moves faster when I'm not working my life away.
