My mother knows how to rock?
Oct. 22nd, 2002 02:41 pmIt never fails that when I think I've determined the mechanisms that make my mother tick, she will do something unexpected. Case in point: I recently emailed her, regarding my trip to Manhattan for CMJ 2002. Basically, I told her that I needed money for a place to stay because I am quite strapped for cash this year and my prospects for crashing on someone's floor were looking quite dim. I had been looking into youth hostels because of their relatively low price range. I was discussing the ones I was looking at with her, the two of us becoming quite frustrated in the process. She finally tells me to find a hotel and let's me use her credit card to reserve a room!
It's much more expensive than sleeping dorm-style with seven other people, but much more comfortable. I guess that's what my mother was thinking about - my antisocial tendencies. I suspect I may have received my Xmas present...for the next three years.
So, the checklist is as follows...
CMJ Confirmation letter for badge...check
Lodging for convention...check
Money for bus tickets...
Time to visit SGA...
