Music ups and downs
Nov. 24th, 2002 01:45 amI must say that the new Porcupine Tree album, In Absentia is probably my favourite piece of prog rock since my high school years of consuming every Pink Floyd album ever pressed. For once, I have absolutely no regrets plopping down $18 for a brand new CD. One of my top ten of 2002!
Conversely, Audioslave's self-titled debut is a letdown, even by my "don't really care much about Rage Against The Machine or Soundgarden" standards. The combination of 3/4 of the former and 1/4 of the latter bandwise ultimately equals a group of four people aping Led Zeppelin. I'm glad I didn't pay for this disc, but I still feel slighted in that I wasted an hour of my life reviewing it for WAIH. One of my bottom ten of 2002.
