Once again, Obamaheads: told you so
Jun. 30th, 2009 07:35 pmIt would be nice for Obama to prove me wrong for a change. I don't have high expectations for him and with each passing day of his presidency, more people are coming down off of the high of "yes we can." The phrase being used now, if in not so many words is, "when can we?" Dan Savage was recently interviewed by NPR:
When President Obama was elected last November, many groups that supported him expected to see some great return on their investment.
Among the eager constituencies were gay rights advocates, including columnist Dan Savage.
But five months after the inauguration, Savage tells NPR's David Greene that "President Obama should be very angry with candidate Obama."
The reason?
"Our expectations have not been met," Savage says. "Who raised our expectations? Candidate Obama."
During the campaign, Obama seemed to be a magic mirror for his fans: they saw what they wanted to see. The truth is just too much of a letdown.

Date: 2009-07-01 04:28 pm (UTC)I can recall back during the election saying Obama should hope to get assassinated, because no matter what he does his critics will just say it's not enough and it's not being done fast enough.
You want sweeping change and a President with the mandate from the people to do whatever he wants? You need planes to fly into buildings. You need that level of fear. Of course then it would be Cheney saying "I told you so."
