Weblog hell

I've been using Blogger for years now to update the News section of my website. I do it via FTP so that the files for each entry are located on my web server and so that the appearance of the weblog matches that of the rest of the site. In fact, it the root CSS file which defines the weblog with everything else on the site.

Blogger is discontinuing support for FTP at the end of March. Basically, they are forcing everyone using the service to host their weblogs exclusively on Google's (Blogger's parent company) servers. Along with this will certainly come a reduction of control over the look and feel of the weblog. I, for one, like having the weblog integrated into my site and have no desire to redirect web traffic for illusionofjoy.net elsewhere.

My web hosting package came with three weblog scripts I had the option to install using CPanel's Fantastico script. I tried all three and was, frankly, disappointed. There were too many unnecessary features and getting each weblog to simply read the CSS file at the root of my site and match up proved to be well nigh impossible.

So, the floor is open. Does anyone know of a weblog script that will allow me to host my files on my own server and not force "themes" on the overall look of the weblog? Comments and suggestions are much appreciated.
