Simcity 4

I am victorious! Well, sort of...

I refer to Simcity 4, insofar as my victories go. When I played all night, I was having trouble balancing the budget. I would build a city only to watch it plummet into a terrible budget deficit when I tried to keep the actual city services up with the demand (much like Pittsburgh, heh). I had entire regions in the economic toilet! Then, I thought of something...

I was trying to do too much too soon. Of course! This is the foible that has foiled so many other players of every version of Simcity throughout the eons! This was what made otherwise honest gamers resort to cheat codes!

Thus, I went at creating my urban empire from another angle. Now, instead of attempts at "instant" urbanization, I'm experimenting with creating a series of little farming communities. These don't require many city services and tend to bring in a fair amount of tax revenue, considering the low land values. I have met with sucess by this strategy thus far. I'm going to eventually re-zone and expand when the coffers get full enough.

Fascinating, no?

Given the time, I've been playing this game since I got back from Ceremony last night. [livejournal.com profile] masochistmonkey had left me a message, telling me to go over to his place after I left the club. He's been asleep on the floor since twenty minutes after I arrived. He'll probably be quite happy to know that I'm getting so much use out of his computer.
