It has been a good day to be in the studio. I've completed a total of two songs. The second, which was finished just minutes ago is entitled "Is There Some Way Out Of Here." It's a protest song. I honestly hate politics and would rather write sappy love ballads (okay, breakup songs, actually), but there finally came along a presidential administration that pissed me off enough that I had to write a song about how much it pissed me off. (As an aside, I wonder if this type of agitation is Goth or punk.)

In any case, here is a listing of the tracks I have completed thus far, which will be appearing on Division (not the final order):

  • Beloved
  • Dead Winter Sky
  • Our Finest Hour
  • Right Wing Radio
  • Hip Hip Hooray
  • Take Away My Comfort
  • Still Life (Division)
  • Is There Some Way Out Of Here

Eight tracks down, two to go (if all goes as planned).

I had thought that it would be available for purchase via MP3.com like the first two. However, I just received an email from MP3.com today stating that the site will no longer exist after December 2nd. The company was acquired by CNET, and is discontinuing all of their artist services, including the on-demand CD pressing that allowed me to get my albums into the world for a fraction of the cost of conventional means. As of the 17th, they will stop selling CDs on the site. As of December 2nd, the site will cease to exist. I'm going to look for an alternate means of releasing the new (and my previous) album(s) easily and inexpensively. Barring the ability to do that, those MP3.com-pressed CDs will likely be collectors items, and the only new material anyone will hear from Illusion of Joy for a while.

I will write a thorough journal entry on the matter (including the email from MP3.com) in the near future.
