In New York City, when a subway car is to be retired, it is laid to rest on the bottom of the ocean amoung its fellows to form a man-made reef. The Central Ohio Transit Authority, on the other hand, sells their old buses on an auction site similar to eBay. For a mere $500, you could own a vehicle with probably runs as well as an Allegheny County Port Authority bus.
