No air conditioning at work; no air conditioning at home. Frankly, my urge to kill would be rising were I not passing out from heat exhaustion.

Date: 2004-07-13 06:58 pm (UTC)My engine light is on, so I take it in, right? Unspecified code is what the computer says. So they look through the engine, find a slightly loose cap, tighten it and turn off the light.
Two days later, the light is back on. I take it back in. The mechanic calls me to say that I should "just ignore the light" because they can't find anything wrong. Ummm-hmmm. Right. So, even if this problem isn't terrible, what about some other problem that crops up, that I never know about because I'm busy ignoring the engine light? Riiiight. I wanted to slap him over the phone. :P

Date: 2004-07-13 08:15 pm (UTC)Last week, they were supposed to do the body work, but "they didn't have the time." I'm mad about the whole thing because they scheduled me in and now they didn't have the time? Phhft. It'll be done this Friday they say... we shall see. If it isn't, I am going somewhere else to have it repaired.

Date: 2004-07-13 08:49 pm (UTC)I hope you weren't hurt from the accident! An impact that prevents the passenger door from opening must not have been nice to your spine.
I could see your repair work being a day late... but a week? They've got to be nuts. At least you've got a free rental car until then, right?

Date: 2004-07-14 03:35 am (UTC)No rental car for me since I don't have a credit card- yeah, I was screwed without a car. After the accident I was shaken up but fine- but now I am wondering since my back feels all wonky. doh.

Date: 2004-07-14 06:43 am (UTC)Is it possible he did Atkins back in the 70s, or was old enough to remember it from back then? It was a drastically different diet at the time; you were supposed to remove *all* carbs from your diet. A lot of people are remembering the old diet and not reading the current book, so are actually doing an extremely dangerous, outdated version of Atkins.
There's a lot of carbs and vitamins in the current version of Atkins; at the lowest level (Induction), you're supposed to eat 20 grams of carbs in the form of 3 *cups* of veggies. That's more veggies than I ever eat on my own; it's forcing me into a more healthy diet structure.
My bloodwork has been coming out fine, thankfully, and I've been doing this since last October. I've lost 65 pounds, between Atkins and weight lifting... and I've gained about 20 lbs of muscle. So I guess that means I've lost about 85 lbs of fat. :)
Thank you for your concern; I know when people say things like this, it is out of true desire to be helpful, and I sincerely appreciate it.
(again, sorry, Seth! I'll shut up on your journal now!)
