So, we finally know which state the Simpsons' hometown of Springfield is in: Massachusetts. Not only is the town legalising gay marriage, but one longtime character will be coming out of the closet. The current claim is that Smithers won't be the one, being that he is too easy of a target (and let's face it, he's pretty much already out and has been so for eons). Still, I applaud the municipality of Springfield for their progressive stance on this so-called "controversial" issue. I also can't wait to laugh at the conservative backlash. On one of the web boards I frequent, it has already started.
