More on the cats
Mar. 11th, 2005 04:15 pmOver the past two days, it's been all cats all the time here at my ever-so-humble digital tome. It all started when a Wisconsin man wanted legislation passed which would qualify cats which wandered onto his property as "small game," thereby enabling him to shoot them legally. The day after I posted a link to that article, another article was published outlining how another man was shot by his cat in an unrelated incident (or so we have been led to believe by the mainstream media). Today, going back to Wisconsin, it would seem that feline-hater Mark Smith is now getting death threats in response to his proposal. From the article:
Police reports said one call made while Smith was working at the La Crosse Fire Department suggested it should be "open season on firefighters."
It would seem that the hyper-respect for firefighters brought on by September 11th has finally passed. Then again, to my knowledge, no one from New York City's fire department has ever called for the execution of stray cats.
Still, this should all come as no surprise. While it is wrong to make death threats, I feel little in the way of sympathy for Smith, who has effectively written a death threat to every cat who finds himself in the wrong place at the wrong time. Smith is now learning, very uncomfortably, that the emotional vehemence of cat-haters such as himself is not only matched, but quite possibly exceeded by cat-lovers. Furthermore, he has to contend with animal-lovers in general. I'm sure that PETA loves this guy.
Viva la révolution des chats!
