Ireland is not green with envy
Mar. 12th, 2005 09:00 pmSaint Patrick's day isn't until the 17th, however, Pittsburgh's St. Patrick's Day parade was held today. This means that every drunken loser in the area was out on the road, not hoping, but unfortunately driving from bar to bar. There are times I wonder how the day of a saint (specifically his death) because an excuse to act drunken and obnoxious. Should not a more proper commemoration be that of reflection on the suffering of the Irish people throughout the ages? Then again, most people prefer drunkenness over introspection, so, pass the green beer and crank up the U2, meladdy!
Seeing as how I remain the boring American descendant of Polish immigrants several generations removed (or so I've been told - I've never bothered to personally research my family tree), I spent the day within my own sanctum. I managed to program the drum track for yet another song and play the piano part, after several failed attempts. It is becoming apparent that I will likely have to buy a new keyboard within the next year, as my current one is beginning to show it's age. I admit that I'd hate to part with my old keyboard though...maybe it just needs to be opened up and dusted out. Also, worn peripherals, such as the sustain pedal can always be replaced with newer and better versions. It was the sustain pedal that was giving me the most trouble - though it has always been somewhat temperamental.
The birthday dinner for
joi_division's sister-in-law is tomorrow. I finally bought her present this evening, which she will hopefully enjoy. Joi and I also went out to the PetCo in North Hills. They always have cats in the store who are waiting to be adopted. I'd love to take one home someday. There are days that I miss Raven, my black domestic short-hair back in Potsdam.
