[livejournal.com profile] joi_division's sister-in-law recently gave birth to a son, which has the whole family filled with glee. He's a cute kid and, for being only two days old, he's very well-behaved. I was with Joi and various members of her family at the hospital and the kid made barely a peep as the new aunts and grandparents passed him around. Joi's dad is funny though - he referred to me as "half-uncle Seth," which is more polite than "that guy who happens to be boinking Auntie Joi."

Today I was with Joi at her aunt's house for the Mother's day family get-together. It was less chaotic than Christmas, but I didn't feel well the whole time I was there. Joi has been telling me to go see a doctor forever about my stomach problems and I just keep brushing it off because I hate hospitals and examinations so much. I should probably just give in and make an appointment already, but I'd hate to be diagnosed with something that I've been able to manage on my own without too many problems. Still, I don't want to spend the rest of my life feeling ill half of the time.

I agree. You should get checked out by a doctor. It may be something that could get worse as time progresses. The sooner you can figure it out, the better.

Not being diagnosed with something doesn't mean you don't have it :P

It would be a lot worse if they diagnosed you with something that has gotten a lot worse because you put it off. OR if it's something they can easily fix and you've been in pain all this time for nothing.

Well, if it had gotten worse, I would definitely know. Honestly, it feels about the same as it has since college. I'm also wrestling with my own, "is this really bad enough to justify the trouble and expense of a doctor's visit?" I'd hate to be "that guy" who shows up at the hospital for every little thing.

Oh please. We've already established you're not. Going to the doctor doesn't make you a wuss.
