Recording update
Jun. 5th, 2005 05:45 pmI have managed to finish a song in two days, which is pretty damn fast, considering most of my stuff takes about a week to do. The only other time I'd finished recording stuff at such a speed (faster, actually) was during the 13-hour session for Crystalline. In any case, this song uses only four tracks in the mix! That's right...I could have recorded this thing on a four-track tape recorder. Of course, then it would be four mono tracks and, come to think of it, I actually used five tracks (two were for a bassline done in multiple takes, which was mixed down to one track)...
Anyhow, I'm happy with the results. It's a really simple song where I actually used the internal reverb of my keyboard on everything except the percussion. So, we've got a piano, bassline, percussion and my vocals, or three stereo tracks and one mono or two pre-verbed tracks and two tracks that were wettened via Adobe Audition. I like how it sounds. It's a simple, but pretty little song, I think.
Don't you all just love how I talk about this shit and then never give you any titles to reference from once the album does come out? I'm such a fucker...
