I can't say I didn't see this one coming: Reuters today reports that Pope Benedict XVI has condemned gay marriage, divorce, artificial birth control, trial marriages and free-style unions, saying "all of these practices were dangerous for the family." Yeah...this sounds like the type of guy I want to invite to a party. Can I make an official condemnation of dogma, ignorance and repression citing that these practices are dangerous for the human spirit and psyche, or do I have to put on that stupid little hat first?

Date: 2005-06-07 06:37 pm (UTC)As for gay marriage, the only reason I am opposed is fear. That fear being because my mother and several friends are gay. It's already really hard for gays here in the south. I wouldn't want to see them be harmed... so I guess this is because of my own selfishness I don't like it. Here in Louisiana, you can be fired for being openly gay. It's just not fair! :( If this place were different, I do not think I would be afraid of gay marriage so much.
Now see, birth controll is the best thing in the world. It prevents unwanted children. I am very anti-abortion, personally. I do not push it on others or anything, it's my inward personal opinion... this is the PERFECT way to help stop or slow the mortaility rate of fetuses... Use anything you can to prevent pregnancy if you don't want a baby! I totally disagree with Pop Benedict here.
