I rode the EZ-bake trolley home today. This was an older model, which has windows that can be opened, but said windows were locked shut and the air conditioning was broken. That was nearly an hour ago and I still feel like I'm going to puke.

Oh man...that sucks and it scares me. I will soon be soley relying on the "T" to get to and from work. Does that happen often? Also, what are the crowds like? Are they as bad as the buses?

Dead heating and air-conditioning doesn't happen too often and in the case of the A/C, the windows can usually be opened. I was honestly debating whether or not I could get away with "picking" the locks to get a window open on that particular car. I didn't want to get caught and have an unpleasant conversation with the Port Authority Police, however.

As for crowds, it gets worse the closer you get to peak hours (5:00-6:00PM/8:00-9:00AM). Still, the likelihood that you will get to sit down for the duration of your trip increases if you are boarding a.) downtown inbound on an outbound trip [a lot of people call this "cheating" - these people are just mad because they didn't think of it] b.) riding in the second car c.) further away from downtown - for example, Mt. Lebanon, Castle Shannon and points beyond. That said, they aren't as bad as buses namely because a trolley car holds more persons.

Sweltering-hot public transportation really does suck. :/
