So, terrorists bombed London mass transit systems this morning. Given that this occurred during rush hour, right after it was announced that London would be hosting the 2012 Olympic Games, and during the G-8 summit, one would think that British intelligence would have been a bit more vigilant and seen this coming. Not to be callous, but things were looking kind of cheery and normal in Britain right about now...it was a pretty opportune time for a terrorist strike. Sick and sad, but true.

Once again, it is time to pick up the pieces, find out who is responsible to bring them to justice (Al Quaida remains suspect number one, but let's get some evidence to that effect, okay?) and move on with life. Of course, it would be better for everyone if we lived in a world where one group of people didn't feel the need to blow up another to get their point across, but that's way too optimistic of me, now isn't it.

Back in the United States, my bus and trolley rides are now on "Orange Alert," which means absolutely nothing while the rest of the nation remains on yellow...which means absolutely nothing. Oh, and conservatives are blaming liberals for being soft on terror, therefore allowing this to happen (because American polices affect who is going to attack the UK).

I find it morbidly interesting that in North America, terrorists choose to knock down buildings, while in Europe they choose to blow up transit systems (remember that train in Spain?). Is there something symbolic in that, or do these just happen to be the easiest targets in their respective regions?
