It's not often that I encounter a song which I love as soon as I hear it anymore. There will be songs that I like and then grow to love, but as for love at first listen...it's rare these days. "Bug Eyes," the first single from Dredg's latest album, Catch Without Arms is one of those rare songs. A mix of equal parts Catherine Wheel, Radiohead and Porcupine Tree (shoegaze, yearning and driving power), the song simultaneously speaks to my love of pretentious prog rock and fulfills my need to just rock out. The group plays at The Rex this Thursday.
