Dessert goes punk rock
Sep. 18th, 2005 03:46 pmWe've seen the billboards around the area,
joi_division and I; a brownie with chocolate frosting and white icing drawn in the shape of a face. However, instead of the usual "happy dessert," this face was drawn as a scowl. The Frownie is King's new marketing "spokes-dessert," a "dessert ambassador, a spokesbrownie with an attitude," Hartley King is quoted in an article published in the Tribune Review.
I think it's a great concept, as does Joi, based on the fact that a frowning dessert provides us with hours of endless amusement. According to Joi, the Frownie actually tastes good too, unlike Eat'n Park's ubiquitous Smiley cookie.
For about five dollars, you can get six Frownies to go, a package dubbed the "Pity Party." Honestly, I'm tempted to hand these things out on Halloween to share the sweet angst.
