Lovely Rita, hurricane
Sep. 21st, 2005 08:11 pmNow a big bad Category 5, Hurricane Rita is slated to hit Texas this weekend. Three thoughts come to mind: 1.) may Rita stay the course and not pummel New Orleans into further submission, 2.) Hopefully all of the evacuees from New Orleans get out of Texas' coastal cities before the storm hits and 3.) That bastard Lone Star State is about overdue for some hardcore thrashing, methinks.
Oh, and in a symbolic show if how prepared the government is for Rita, as opposed to Katrina, George Bush should take a trip down to Texas before the storm hits and stick around to watch the events unfold. You know, he can do a little "preemptive strike" and then "stay the course and complete the mission."

Date: 2005-09-22 12:38 am (UTC)There are two possible outcomes that I see. The first is that Texas does get a good thrashing, with a Cat 4-5 hurricane hitting it. So far im projected to be on the outskirts, but I may get heavy rain. (Damnit, I have to work Friday night, Im thinking thats a good thing, someone else is responsible for taking care of me :-) Or, the storm fizzles out, and we get endless reports of how much the evacuation cost the state, the people who stayed get endless news on "they were the smart ones" etc.
Already, the grocery store was packed, not so much from people worried about the storm hitting us, but from all the extra people pouring into town. Im glad I dont work at a hotel right now :-)
