They should call it the "Songs you've heard a million times before tour 2006" - The Sisters of Mercy are going to be playing the States early this year. Honestly, I just don't see the point of this group (group?) going out live when they haven't put out a new record in over fifteen years. Are they now some kind of Goth nostalgia group?
Speaking of which, if you'd asked me maybe five years ago if I'd like to go see the group, I'd be all up for it. Ask me today, and I'd probably go if I had nothing better to do that night. Frankly, I have all the records and still enjoy the songs, but something makes me not want to be in presence of His Royal Wankerness, Andrew Von Eldritch.
No one who has neglected to make a new recording in that much time deserves to be that much of a pretentious asshole. Of course, if a new Sisters of Mercy album were to come out now, it would probably suck.

Date: 2006-01-08 06:12 am (UTC)But last time SoM toured (1999? 2000?) I saw them in Atlanta and it still stands as the worst show I've ever seen.
I'm a pretty big fan, so it's sad when you have to be halfway through a song before I can figure out that it's Detonation Blvd. (or Lucretia, or Temple of Love) Ugh it was terrible.
I'll never pay to see them again.
