Nobody loves the republican party
Feb. 17th, 2006 02:01 pmThe city of Chicago is not interested in hosting the Republican National Convention in 2008. New York didn't want the right-wing bastards either, but that didn't stop them (though, I will concede that the protests in New York didn't come from an "official" source).
Those organising the RNC should shoot for cities like Houston and Atlanta - places that don't yet have enough blue in their blood to refuse them. The fact of the matter is that most cities are liberal places; perhaps the republicans should host their convention in an open field, flanked by haystacks? Of course, then that is a slur on those in the rural populace who actually do the right thing and vote liberal and progressive.
Meanwhile, at work, the new schedule was decorated with photos for President's Day; Ronald Reagan was pictured along side Lincoln and Washington! This was obviously an error on the part of the individual who drafted the schedule, seeing as how despite Reagan's birthday being in February, President's Day is not a celebration of it. History will never place Reagan at the same level as either Lincoln or Washington. If anything, it will show him to be a bumbling senile idiot who made the 80s a less pleasant decade and who laid the template for the reign of Bush II. As a correction to this error, I grabbed the fattest black marker I could find and put a big X through the smiling gipper's gimpy face.
