AIM Etiquette
Oct. 7th, 2002 10:10 pmIf you are not on my buddy list and I have never met you in person, there are certain things you should be aware of before IMing me. First and foremost, identify yourself within the first couple of sentences, or if you prefer to remain anonymous, state your business with me. Secondly, state where you found my screen name from; I'll probably assume that it was from one of my journals, but it is always nice to know for sure. I do not take kindly to randomites who dick around with me, being evasive regarding these simple and completely reasonable requests - especially those who address me by my first name in the initial IM. If you are audacious enough to use my first name, you'd better have one of your own that you're willing to share with me. Finally, responding to my questions with stupid questions of your own, i.e.: responding to "Randomite, please identify yourself" with "How am I random" is a sure way to end the conversation quickly. To answer the stupid question: you are random because you are not on my buddy list and we do not talk regularly, therefore the variable which is your IM does not fit in the established parameters. Clear enough? That, ladies and gentlemen, is your lesson in IM etiquette for the evening.
That is also why Frisky141 has made my block list.
