It is painfully obvious that our so-called "public servants" are pretty much a group of self-serving, self-righteous blowhards. Honestly, I often find myself wondering if an angry mob with pitchforks and torches battering down the doors to the castle isn't long overdue. In any case, our latest soapbox-dweller in need of a good platform-kicking comes in the form of Senator Scott Brown, republican from Wrentham, Massachusetts.
The Boston Globe reports that Senator Brown recently went on a tirade against students gathered at an assembly where he was speaking. Paragraphs one and two:
A state senator and father of a former American Idol finalist read profanity-laced criticism posted online about him and his family in a talk to high school students in his district about his opposition to gay marriage. A state senator and father of a former American Idol finalist read profanity-laced criticism posted online about him and his family in a talk to high school students in his district about his opposition to gay marriage.
Sen. Scott Brown, R-Wrentham, defended his use of foul language during an assembly at King Philip Regional High School on Thursday by saying he was only repeating what had been written about him. The comments were posted on a Facebook.com page dedicated to a pro-gay rights history teacher at the school.
There are two careers in which one will be burned in effigy on a regular basis: entertainment and politics. If one can not take the heat, one should get out of the kitchen. The article goes on to quote the thin-skinned senator:
"If the kids can write it, the kids can hear it...I felt really good about it. And now I find out I'm being portrayed as a vile-speaking hate-monger. It's pretty saddening. I feel very badly that I'm being victimized here."
So, I think I have it all figured out: a senator speaks out against gay rights and a bunch of high school kids slam his bigoted ass online in a manner not unlike what would be seen on any number of social networking sites and message boards and his response is to blast a captive audience? I can see that we are working with a dignified and consummate professional here...
At the risk of having Senator Scott Brown (who seems to be following in the footsteps of Rick Santorum) come knocking at my door, I just want to say that this man is a complete and total fuckwad. Here is a guy who has gone on the public record as opposing equal rights for homosexuals. People disagreed with him and, in doing so, called him some nasty names. Instead of letting it roll off, he blasts back like a five-year-old and whines about being "victimised." Well boo-hoo, Senator Crybaby, not everyone is going to agree with your wrongheaded point of view and certainly not everyone is going to play nice about it. Fuck, why should they play nice? You're one of the oppressors and you deserve every piece of verbal and typewritten abuse hurled your way (or that you download, as the case is here - nobody forced you to visit the site, but the same can't be said for the kids stuck in the auditorium with your stupid ass).
I hope you enjoy the ride, Senator Crybaby, because your little outburst has drawn national attention to what a cockstain you are. You're only going to find yourself the recipient of a lot more of the same.
