illusionofjoy: (Hillary Clinton 2008)

The mainstream media continues to deny Hillary Clinton's current lead in the popular vote, making the tragic mistake of thinking that stripped delegates in Florida and Michigan are the same thing as nonexistent voters. One YouTube user is as pissed off as I am, and lays it all out on the line:

They're going to, last I heard from Howard Dean.

Oh, and I have no idea what that site is. I just snagged it because of the embedded video.

The big question is: how are they going to be seated? Since all candidates names were listed on the Florida ballots, that's easier to determine which delegates are allotted to which candidate. However, in Michigan, "uncommitted" could mean either Barack Obama or John Edwards. I don't believe it would be fair to Edwards voters to hand their votes over to either Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton - we simply don't know who these peoples' second choice would have been without a runoff election. In fact, in Michigan, we don't even know what "uncommitted" means in regards to a first choice!

If Howard Dean can pull off something that will satisfy both Clintonistas and Obamaheads, he'll be known as the new Great Compromiser. Still, this just further solidifies my belief that the system needs a full overhaul. I have plenty of ideas for making the Democratic Primary process simpler and more fair and democratic, but that's more than one comment space should have to hold.

Still wish I could have voted for Dean in 2004 though. :)
