There is no perfect song for 4:00AM
Nov. 17th, 2002 04:01 amI went to Hurley's this evening to see my friend's band play. They were the only band I wanted to see - and I had to wait through four other bands in order to see them. Honestly, I think I've become too old for these "hardcore/punk" shows at Hurley's. When I was in high school I used to love them, because I thought I was "getting into the scene" or some other shit like that. In more recent years, I've come to realize that the "scene" is full of talentless dreck and poseurs. Don't get me wrong, there are a handful of people who are real, but I honestly can't take any so-called "punk" band seriously when they so obviously worship at the alters of New Found Glory, Good Charlotte, and latter-day Blink-182 and Green Day. I'll take my Ramones, Sex Pistols and Clash any day over these jokers. Heh. Post-punk: it's what happens when you are still ranting about society yet have learned how to play your instruments. Thank you Joy Division.
