Feel the compact fluorescent burn

These lights are supposed to last eight years. This one was dead after three months. I suspect a power spike caused this. Note the blackened ring:

Too bad we don't have any replacements in the house.

Eight years at like two hours of use a day. I buy those bulbs and frequently replace them, but I am also in an old house so power spikes are likely the true culprit as well.

I've had a few of those bulbs go out on me, too, in only a few months. And, oddly enough, my room in the only one in the house that I can't use them in. I still have to buy regular bulbs for the socket in my ceiling.
