I was in good mood today. I'd done a bit of shopping at the hardware store to try and "redd up" the apartment as the natives say and I'd just gotten home to where the air conditioners hadn't tripped the circuit breaker. I think to myself, "I'll feed the cat early, so it'll be out of the way and he'll leave me alone." I walk towards the kitchen, which requires going through the dining room only to find that said cat had broken the oscillating vertical fan we keep in that room.

Big deal, right? Well, yes - it is a big deal. The air conditioning does nothing to keep the dining room and kitchen cool, so we have fans all throughout the apartment to try and keep the air moving. The vent of the fan was snapped off of it's base, as if someone had tried to rub against it, knocking it down and causing it to come apart. There was only one organism in the apartment all day.

So, after issuing forth many vulgarities, I sat down to try and fix the fan. After about half an hour, the phrase, "no user serviceable parts" rang loud and clear in my head and I called the time of death. The cat did not get fed early today.
