Debate watching?

The Obamaheads are having a debate watching party at a local bar tomorrow. I only know this because somehow I'm on the mailing list for the local Obama supporters...which I don't ever recall signing up for. I'm infamously only supporting downticket Democrats (Steve O'Donnell for Congress - PA18), but should I go regardless? I'm always up for arguing politics, but the typical Obama supporter seems in need of a healthy dose of cynicism, if you catch my drift. Still, I'd like to see firsthand where the Democratic Party is headed; I care, when I really probably shouldn't.

Either way, I'd like to watch the debate (if McCain doesn't show, it will be amusing to watch Obama talk to himself), but [livejournal.com profile] joi_division hasn't the stomach for politics that I do and I am sick of doing these things alone. So, should I risk mingling with Obamaheads, potentially risking my being sniffed out and called a racist and "closet republican?" Should I find some Pittsburgh PUMAs? Discuss...

i didn't actively sign up for the obama mailing list, either, but even after unsubscribing, i still receive emails. boo.

and i'd love to do some debate viewing (mccain will be there), but like you, i'd probably utter something remotely anti-obama then be subject to a beat-down.

Yeah, I know - it irks me to no end that any criticism of the man gets shouted down with "that's racist!" Still, I'm half-tempted to ask if you want to come down to Mt. Lebanon and hang out, so we wouldn't be alone in our kvetching.

I'll give you an "O'Donnell for Congress" button, if you want one. :)
